Four major sites are encouraged for inclusion in your toolkit for creating and establishing a personal brand and professional presence with Social Media.
As the graphic illustrates, many users have created profiles on one or more of these platforms. In the coming weeks and months, I will share insights and recommendations to support these sites. Advice and recommendations curated from career management and social media experts will offer guidance to define and establish a role for these tools in building personal brand and career goals.
Overview/Thoughts/Suggestions:
LinkedIn is the winner in professional social networking. Start an account if you haven't already. Have an account? Develop, cultivate, and grow your profile and network. LinkedIn will feature prominently in upcoming posts.
No secret, Facebook is the monster in Social Media. Early advice was to use Facebook as social and keep professional separate. Perspective is changing as Facebook matures and companies develop pages...many hospitals and healthcare organizations now have a presence. I have begun to follow ones of interest and will explore value of Facebook as a career and professional resource.
Twitter is a recent addition to my toolkit. Lots of favorable press and touted as new frontier for networking, building personal brand, and serving job/career purposes. Early promise for healthcare...let's explore and discover together!
Google+ is the newest entrant of the big 4 to Social Media. I am becoming an advocate of all things Google, switching to Google Chrome and integrating many apps into my web management and online routine. Consider using Google+ as a professional network alternative to Facebook and maintain social separation.
