Watering Your Personal Garden

Erika and I went out to dinner and, after driving around to size up the available options, settled on Chinese.  We finished dinner and received the fortune cookie...I always enjoy the message and sometimes use the numbers for the occasional lottery ticket.  Never have matched any numbers for a winner by the way!

The message in Erika's cookie was my favorite, leading me to consider what is my personal garden and tending to its needs.  Growing up on the farm, analogies can be found in a variety of manner and descriptions.  All of Earth, of course, is a garden and we should strive to be good stewards.
Flower Garden
On the farm in North Carolina, we had the crops (soybeans, corn, tobacco), vegetable garden (tomatoes, peas, squash), and the flower garden.  Each served a unique purpose and required differing levels of care and attention.  Crops served to earn income, vegetables as food, and the beauty of a rose for enjoyment.  Tobacco required lots of care and tending to mature for harvest and a rose needs daily water for glorious blooms.

Reflection on the cookie message reminds me of the need to care and water the roses in my personal garden.   For more reflection and garden ideas, see Living Gracefully by Growing Your Personal Garden.
